Help; Need Advice

Im stuck here. My Biocube 14 lights have completely failed, and there is no way to fix the hood at all. However, I can't get a Biocube hood shipped here quickly enough (would take a week or so), and all the stores around here are charging $250+ for the whole tank, which isn't worth it to me. I was going to get the AI Sol nano rushed to my house, but thats not even available at the stores I've looked at (only on eBay, which is odd (and still ground shipping)).

Do you guys have ANY suggestions for what I can do? Is a 1+ week to long for the corals to go without any lighting? Should I just email my LFS and ask if they can hold my corals for awhile while I work out what to do?

why cant you have the light or hood over nighted to you from the place you are ordering it????

Edited: Well it appears to be $80 for next day, and $40 for 2 day. Might just have to suck it up and do that.

Anyone know if marineandreef.com is reliable at all?

I have ordered from them one time, pretty good for what I needed, but it was not an emergency like yours.. I have also ordered from Dr. Fosters & Smith very good, Pet Mountain Supply don't go with the cheap rate for shipping go to next level up because you will not be able to track your shipment if you go with the cheap shipping level.

Is there any natural light that gets to the tank. If so you should have no issues for a week without lights.

Aquarium lights are pretty simple devices, a multimeter and a little know how should get you going. You really only have a few things to check, the bulb, ballast, wiring or the switches....find what's bad and replace it. A replacement ballast for a small PC should only cost about $10-$20...the wire and switches are even cheaper...

I just went ahead and got a replacement hood that should arrive tomorrow. The ballasts aren the issue, and finding the wiring issue would be a pain, as they are all tied up together tightly and only fit in that spot.
