Guys, strange thing for me.
It is said that Hair algae feeds on excess nutrients like PO4 and NO3 but today I checked them using the JBL test kit.
PO4 = 0 and N03 = 1mg/l
If I don't have high nitrates and PO4 on what is the hair algae feeding and growing?
My bulbs are also new, and now I decreased the lights on for about 6 hours from 8.
Any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks
Remember that the algae uses these, so it makes sense it would register as 0 as your algae is eating it all up. Do you have a sump? If so, try growing some chaeto in it. It's fast growing and will soak up the nutrients that that algae in your main tank will need. Try running Phosar or another phosphate remover in a canister filter or reactor. Feed less. Cleanup crew helps. The idea is to put less nutrients into the system (smaller feedings), take it out faster (skimming, chaeto, Phosar) and control what algae that gets through (snails/hermits).
