this isnt my first clam, i have maxima and crocea.
i'm thinking buying some blue maxima, they are about 1.5".
i know i need to feed them.
just wondering how many ppl have successful experience raise baby clam.what food work best for u?(DT?MS?Plankton?RC£¿) how often u feed?
here's my equipments:
lightinh: 8X54W T5HO
over 200G tank with over 150lbs LR in display with 50£«lbs in my liverock box
2 ER RS 8-2 skimmers
thx

live phytoplankton is the way to go. clam mortality is very high at that size. it can however be done. DTs phyto talks about how much to feed on the bottle. unless you plan on getting a bunch of them you may consider putting them in a tupperware container or something like that so you can "bowl feed" them. in a 200g tank it would take alot of phyto. good luck to you

thx for the input. i have couple angels coming in(regal and flame). so i will wait to see what they tinking about the clams i have now b/f i do anything.

I bought 10 small maxi's at reefscience. @ 6months ago. I do nothing special for them.. they look great!
Many years ago I used to bowl feed small clams-- I believe that is harmful now..
If it make you feel good-- add some DTs to the tank..

some people feel that bowl feeding can be to much food at one time and can clog the gills and not allow resperation. never seen one die from that when useing live phyto but it could happen. good luck with your clam choice

small clams almost certainly required feeding. I would STRONGLY recommend people against purchasing them. Phytoplankton of some kind is needed. Some the previous posts regarding phyto baths for the clams. good luck.
