help needed

Hey Guys,

I need your help with something. I recently added a 6 line wrasse to my tank, and then just yesterday I added a yellow hogfish. I didn't know that 6 lines were territorial to any fish added after them..he had been completely peaceful with my 2 clownfish and 1 firefish. I wish I had known earlier. Anyhow, I've been seeing the wrasse chase my beautiful hogfish around all day.

1. Can I borrow someone's fish trap, or someone explain how I can remove the 6 line easily?

2. Does anyone have a nano or holding tank and can keep the 6 line for a few weeks until I reintroduce him into my tank? I assume that if the 6 line is the last to be added, there shouldn't be any problems.

What size tank is this in? If the tank is large enough, the 6-line shoule leave the hogfish alone in a day or two. if it can hold out that long

Get a 9oz water bottle, cut off the top about 2 inches down, flip it around so that the part you drink out of is now inside the bottle, drop a cube of brine shrimp into it, and sink it. Wala! You have yourself a six-line. Works every time for me. Sometimes you catch a fish that you didn't want to, but let him go and try again, you'll eventually catch the six-line. Took me 10 minutes last time.

My tank is 90 gallon, 4x2x2'. Do you think that is big enough? Have you heard many stories of 6-lines bothering fish for a few days and then settling in?

I'm going to monitor the situation and if it doesn't get better I'll try that technique. If I don't have any brine shrimp, can I use some flakes or cyclopeeze?

i've heard of a few sixlines being extremely territorial and aggressive, no matter when it's introduced.

it's hard to say if you re-introduce it if the sixline will be any less aggressive. Aren't hogfish similar to wrasse anyway? That may be why it's especially aggressive towards the hogfish, because of their similarities in behavior and shape.

If it were me I would return the sixline, though maybe you could try a different one in the future.
