I purchased a new percula a week ago. Its a jouvenile - little over 1 inch in length. I've got it in my quarantine tank but it just doesn't seem to eat. I've tried flakes, small pellets (I think the smallest), and mysis shrimp (finely minced). I've watched it take food into its mouth, but then it seems always spit it back out. I've even tried a drop of garlic xtreme to the water, but that doesn't seem to help. I suppose maybe its getting a little bit of nutrition, as it is still actively swimming, and not dead. What else can I try? It has been a couple of years since I had to replace a fish, so I forgot to watch it at the LFS to be sure it would eat. Oh, and the fish is supposedly tank raised.

Probably a picky eater. The fact that he shows interest is a good sign. Try brine shrimp frozen or live to start out.

You know, I had the same problem with my Onyx clown. It did that for about a month then one day I fed the entire tank again and he went for the food like crazy. I personaly think they are still shocked from being transfered to a new tank.

P.S. Now that I think about it, it started eating once I fed them Rods food for the first time??? 
Thanks for the input. I tried frozen cyclopeze last night and it really went for it. I plan to keep the little clown in my quarantine tank another week. At that point if it has not started eating anything other that the cyclopeze, is it best to keep it in the quarantine tank until it does eat something else or move it to the display tank?? My display tank had a pair of percula clowns for 5 years, until the female died 2 weeks ago. So I got this new percula to replace the old one, and am hoping that the one still in the tank - and this one - will form a pair.
