Help on a new 12g nano

Just bought a used 12g jb nano for my son. Never had this small of a tank and I am not sure what you guys do as far as media in the over flow boxes.

The first chamber has 3 black sponges for dirt collection. The second chamber had a bag of charcoal, a bag of some type of ceramic beads and bio balls.

What does everyone put in this second chamber? I am used to my 175g with a full sump.

I will take out the sponges and leave 1 block on the first chamber to collect big parts but you will have to clean it often, and I will put small pices of live rock.

beside that in the second chamber I wil recomend some phosphat absorver as phosguard or rowaphos, and 1/2 unit of chemipure to keep the water clean, IMO
