There certainly are a lot of ways people have used to try to raise fry.
Generally speaking, with pelagic fry (non-hitching at birth) being so difficult to raise, most people end up trying a lot of ways before finding one that is successful for them. There doesn't seem to be a tried and true method that works for everyone.
My first 9 batches, I never got past 26 days for my longest attempt, using quite a few different methods.
I finally went to the greenwater method and using 4 litre jars, feeding rotifers for the first 2 weeks, followed by rotifers and BBS for a week, and then BBS after that. I've been trying to get the older ones on to cyclopeeze, but haven't had any success with that at this point. Many people start right off with BBS.
It's amazing how much these little suckers can eat.
I did a lot of reading before starting out, but it still just came down to trying things until I found one that worked.
By worked I mean that my oldest ones are just over 3 months now, and I still get die off. I'm hoping it stops before I loose them all.
I have roughly 90 between 6 weeks and 3 months, and another 330 between 4 days and 19 days.
Gestation period for Reidi is approximately 14 to 16 days in my experience.
If you don't have time to set up a bucket type or Kreisel, just get a four litre or a gallon jar, aerate with a piece of rigid 3/16" air line tubing, and that will circulate the water and fry so that none stay at the top. If you don't have rotifers, at least use the san fran artemia cysts as the nauplii are smaller than with great salt lake cysts.
