as you can see it is looking kinda shrivelled, it was almost twice the size at the lfs. I really love this piece so help me, please.

here are my parameters just checked them before post:

amonia(checked twice)- 0 ppm

nitrite- 0 ppm

nitrate- 20 ppm - should I be worried abou this?

ph- 8.4

temp- 79

sg- 1.026

Also I bought a nice frogspawn and added it at the same time.
It is fine. here are a couple of pics of my tanks.

OH! my b/w saddleback has been laying on it at night, I have not seen him wallowing on it during the day, but he is in the sand some by it.

sorry these pics are kinda crappy, my cam was on low res, do you guys add some light to your shots when you take pics?

Probably gonna be really tough to say exactly what's happening. I would think if all else is well in your tank, then it probably just needs a little time to "get used to its new surroundings." Did you acclimate in any way?

yes, I floated for 25 min. then acclimated over an hour. One other thing is that it is in the sand here and the LFS had it on a rock. I thought that it would be more "comfortable" in the sand bed. Am I wrong about this?

thanks for the comment night_blade, it is getting better but is a far cry from what it used to be. about 8 months ago I fried the whole tank and had been collecting for about 2 years. I'll post a pic in this thread latter.

I recommend putting it in a spot with less light and more flow. Not crazy flow but more flow than where it is at. LPS you can't error with putting it in low light to start.

should I be worried about the nitrate level in my tank?
I think 20 is too high, but not at the point where it is really dangerous.

Think I need a skimmer I have spoken for a used one but I am having to wait for the guy to take down the tank, if he ever does.
Hey that is another good question.

What kinda skimmer would you guys recomend for a 28g bowfront? With not a lot of room.

Looking around in your full tank shot, you seem to have quite a few dead brain skeltons in there.
What kind of lighting is on the tank?

I have an Aqua C Remora on my 28G bow and created a h.o.b. refugium. I also have a Phosban 150 reactor hanging on the back, so I have pretty much filled the back of the tank. I'll get some pics and let you have a look at it soon.

I have a Coralife Super Skimmer in the sump of my 37 and a CPR Backpack on my frag tank. You can easily make a fuge out of a HOB filter and it really helps with the nitrates, which you really need to get down with frequent water changes and less feeding.

some of those are from my early "live rock" buys. only the old lobo. in the front is actually somthing that I once had. It perished in the great fry of Feb. '08. also I think that my high levels may have somthing to do with just that. After the accident I just kept doing water changes until the amonia cleared and added a clean-up crew. I had hoped that they would take care of the organic waste.

I am currently running power compacts. I will get the specifics and post later. I try to change 6 gallons of water a week. I do this pretty religiously.

Sounds good alkamar, and reefdiver I have thought about feeding less but everyone in there looks so hungry all the time!

brain is looking better today. I am gonna put some carbon in my filter and do a water change on tuesday. Thanks for the help everyone.

Having had a couple different flavors of brain coral (LPS), I can say with out a doubt they are finicky at times for no reason. Light acclimation for LPS seems to be more intrusive than for other corals IME to boot. I would say from your photo that you have some pretty healthy corals and there is no reason in my mind to suspect your new addition won't do fine once it adapts to lighting, water flow, etc. I had two clowns hosting in a Wellso at one time and I actually had to QT the wellso for a while as the clowns were just beating it down constantly. The clown action is probably not helping the acclimation, probably not hurting, but if I had a guess, I would say it will add some time to your new corals recovery. PCs, VHO even MH are all good choices for LPS so I don't see your lighting being an issue, especially given your photo.

Be patient, try and avoid the temptation to re-locate it, etc. As long as the color is good, the fact that it is 'flacid' isn't any reason to start searching for some coral viagra ; )

Best of luck!
