Help please injured fish!

Hi all, something seems to have taken a chunk out of my wreckfish! My tank does not contain anything aggressive two baby clowns, yellow tang, blue damsel, scooter blen and a cardinal. Tank has been established about 16 months, added the wreck fish last week and has settled in well. Just noticed this chunk missing, I added about 20kg of live rock on Monday but made sure not to hurt anybody when putting in. There are no signs of any bullying. He spends a lot of time in a cave but comes out a lot. He is eating fine and swimming fine. Should I be worried and what do I do? Will attach a pic. Reckon there is something evil in the new live rock?
 
Are those white spots on the fish or in the water? It's hard to tell from the pic if that's a wound or infection either way a Acriflavin bath will help however if it's an infection you will need to treat with Kanaplex. If those white spots are on the fish this could be bacterial infection caused by ick. And Cardinals and damsels are semi aggressive as are certain clowns like maroons.

Ich is not caused by bacteria...
 
It is very hard to tell from the picture. Is it possible to get a pic with just regular white lights on? what color is the wound?
secondary infections are common in fish that are infected with ich like jdub968 mentioned.
 
I've only dealt with open wounds in my freshwater tanks. In those cases, I leave the fish alone if it's eating well behaving normally. Keep the water clean and do water changes to keep it clean. I guess I'd only ioslate the fish if it were behaving oddly and/or getting picked on.

I've had freshwater fish heal completely from large flesh wounds suffered in collisions with wavemakers, etc.

Thanks everyone, the white dots are just food food as I took pic during feeding, it does not look like ick from pics I've researched as this was my first concern. It just looks like a big hole in it like a big chunk has been knocked off of it. I will try and get a better pic when I can. Thanks for all the help, just did a water change, he seems happy in himself and is feeding, I will keep a close eye on it and hope for the best! :)
 
Um. A wreckfish grows six feet long according to Wiki. Are you sure of your id?
 
Yeah that fish looks like an anthias to me. And since you just added live rock I wouldn't rule out a rouge hitchhiker. Especially since you said the fish stays in the rockwork. It's easy picking for a crab. But like stated above. It's hard to tell from the pic.

I once had 2 snake heads in my freshy tank.. I went on a weekend vacation and came home to find them both on opposite sides of the house...all dried up.. I had an agressive tank.. so I tossed the dry.. lifeless body's back in the tank to be eaten.. and well they were halfway eaten when they came back to life.. ribs and bones were VERY visible..

Long story short.. both snakeheads hid in the top corner of my 150 for about 3 months while they healed up..
The day they got there strength back 100 percent.. they went through and killed and ate every fish I had in the tank... overnight. (About 10 good sized fish)
In the morning.. all that was left.. besides a scene of utter carnage.. was my 2 snake heads.. my 12 inch long plecostomis... and half of a cichlid...

Just wanted to share my injured fish story lol
