So I recently lost one of my Occ. Clownfish :thumbdown and I have been wanting to replace it. I went into the LFS today and they had some beautiful Black Occ. clownfish at a really good price. My current clown and the one that I would like o get are just about the same size with my current one being the bigger of the two. So... Can I put these together and they will live peacefully and maybe become a pair, or should I just stick with the regular Occ. to replace it???

They are both the same species just a different color variant. I would go with the smallest you can find regardless of color for the best chance at co-habitation.

I have had my current clown for about three months

If your orange one is not fully grown (far from maturity when you got him even), I'd say your'e fine. I've got a orange & b/w osc. together. Got them at the same time, but the b/w was a little larger, but not fully mature. I've had them for a year and 2 months or so. At the time the b/w wasn't fully colored in, but she's fully black as of a few months or so.

One will be bound to develop into the female, even if you're two are roughly the same size. Sorry for your loss btw.

Thanks. Yea I think the one that I've got now was the female in my other pair because she had grown much quicker but still only about 1 1/2 inches right now. They were both about an inch when I first got them. The b/w I am looking at is about an inch so they all still have some growing to do. One other question... The b/w clowns at the store have orange heads. Will the heads stay orange or will they eventually be black?

Yeah, they'll turn totally black. Works from the stomache to the head, slowly but surely. We got ours in November of 09 & from first bar to tail was full black (Other half is that burnt orange that you're seeing now). Probably at the one year mark she was full black. Attached is a from shortly after getting her & now.
