ok i have a tri color acro now for about 2 or 3 months now and it was a very nice color and now it is like a tanish white color. my (Q) is where should it be located in the tank? i had it near the middle with strong flow. i heard that it should be as close as you can get it to the top as you can but i was afraid of it frying under my 8 bulb t-5 tek light. should i put it 4in. fromthe top of the water?

So this is a color shift to a brown tint?

IME if corals are too close to the fixture they bleach or turn white.

Too far aways and they may pale or take on a brownish coloration.

Another possibility maybe an elevated phosphate level.

As always an image of said corals really helps.

what are your tank parms? Make sure nothing is landing on it. with good flow that should not be an issue. How old are the bulbs. I would try it about 8 - 10" down

Check for acro eating flatworms (AEFW). The pale areas may be a collection of bite marks. Mine was doing well and all of a sudden it got pale. Look closely for the bite marks.
