Here is the ric now. No that is not its mouth in the middle but the rock it is on it has folded up on itself and I can not see the rock behind it.

My concern and possible help needed come with the chemicals from the tank. I have been testing and testing. Nitrates are not going down. NITRATE is at 25 ppm this is not good. Over the last 2 days I have changed 10 gallons of water out of the 29 available.
So is it DEAD and that is what causing nitrate to go up.

Please help!!!!!!!!!:eek1: :eek2: :crazy1:

It's hard to see the second pic, but if you have had the tank running for 6 months it should be past it's cylcle and Nitrates should not be that high. You are on the right track with water changes. There are bacteria cultures you can by as well as Nitrate removers, but it may be patience is the best remedy, perhaps your tank cycle is for some reason taking longer than normal.

I have tested befor and the tank has cycled and I have found that a water change for me usually takes care of Nitrates for me at least brings them to a acceptable level. Here is another hopefully better pic of the ric

First of all realize that ricordia are amazingly hardy, so even with it shrinking up dramatically it's probably a long way from dead. It's just unhappy (although they also shrink up at night). Just don't make any dramatic changes, just keep doing water changes every couple days to get your nitrogenous wastes down. Have you checked your ammonia or nitrite recently? Those are the real killers, and if something in the rock has recently died you could get a spike even with the tank being cycled. Once it's happy it'll adjust itself and open up...when some people frag ricordia they rubber band them to the rock upside down so don't worry about it's orientation. What you do need to watch for is unhappy ricordia often detach and float away to find a better location, which could cause you to lose yours if you've got overflows, filters, or crevices it could get lost in. You might consider putting something over it while still allowing water flow if it looks like it's detaching.

The ammonia and Nitrite have not been a problem plus everything else in the tank is doing great. And its like this all day not just at night its closed like this all day and night

How long have you had it? It's possible it's still adjusting to your reefs conditions and that's why it's irritated (especially if your water is much different from the tank it came from). Other possibilities are unstable (or suboptimal) pH, temp, and salinity. Have you checked these recently, and is your pH and temp fairly consistent throughout the day? Also, are any of the aptasia nearby...it's hard to tell from your close up shots. Those could be the source of irritation.

cpr skimmer, whisper filter - I have had it about 5 months and it just recently over teh last month did that salinity is checked daily and stable I have a temp regulater and it maintains temp great all day varies + or - 2 degrees all day and night ph is also checked and good. doing this before during and after feeding.
