Hello
Need some help. Power outage has left my tank dead. need to know what can be saved and what cannot. the things that can need some ideas. Like he not so live rock. can it be place in someones refuge for a few days after soaking in freash water for a few or will that hurt the other persons tank. sand i think will be tossed. by the way this waas a 180 reef........

thanks tom

the rock can not be placed in another tank the dead live rock would ruin another persons established tank. It needs to be re cured in its own vessel.

You can cycle it in tank now, no problems as far as I would think. You have rock that was in the tank going in the first place. I may scrub them down a bit before you set them in there perm.enantly.

took 80% of sand out and did away with it. the rest cleaned very very long. Sprayed rock with water hose in order to remove nastyness. starting with fresh water and have a container of refuqium mud to put in refug......all rock back in, in a temp placement....will be going after a bag of live sand in a day or two. also looking to pick up a few small pieces of live rock....also will get some sand from refug at church as well as some calupra....would like to find some cheato...oh yea got to pick up some carbon........
water changes how often you think since im starting with all fresh water?

Normally you would try to keep everything as close to Zero as possible (Ammonia, Nitrates, Nitrites) to keep die off to a minimum. But if all of the coral, sponges, ect have DIED off I dunno. You could still try this to salvage what you can, most likely if it sat in ice cold water for several days most everything is already gone....

Well i got lucky this time,, had power back on in only 23 hours. then again i dont have anything left in the tank except the once alive live rock. and 250 gal of feshly made water...............
