Help reading ammonia readings

Dave just so you know what we are talking about when we recommend the salifert test kits, they give you an actual number instead of trying to match up a color.

My Salifert Nitrate matches a color :confused:

Just to clarify...

Salifert Calcium and Alkalinity use what is called a titration

... you add the indicator to your sample, add the titrant dropwise until there is a color change... the syringe is finely graduated so its pretty accurate... the only thing I don't care for is the swirling... I was a chemistry major in College and worked as a lab tech for a while--- I was spoiled doing titrations by having a magnetic stirrer in the bottom of my container.... usally used a larger sample so it was alot more accurate and easier to see the endpoint (where the color changes)--- I could knock out a chloride titration in about 20 seconds...
 
oh yeah, I used to work as a lab tech in a construction materials testing lab, doing titrations with the equipment they had was a sinch but I am sure that stuff costs a lot of green.
