Help, real hard Coral to ID

Hello Reef Central members, in my local Forum in Mexico, we have had a hard time trying to ID this small piece of coral, that came attached to some Halimeda algae. As it came attached, and it doesnt have a calcium skeleton, its not a bubble coral species, so that is why we belive its some soft coral species. Also, we dont think its a Ricordea species either:

Please help ID this coral.

Wow! That is bizarre! Are you sure it is not some type of nudi? I'm tagging along to see what everyone thinks.

Hi Lorawalters13, nope, its not a Nudi. Its attached to the Algae and has not moved a bit. I have never seen something like it and that why we all are pulling our hairs trying to ID it, jejeje.

That is crazy! It looks to be some really unique variety of mushroom. But then again, that's really just a guess.

looks like one of the beaded mushrooms that come from the Gulf area.
