Help...return Pump Will Not Start

i shut down my pump so i could do a filter change as well as media swap and now the pump will not fire back up... the pump is a Little Giant return pump. it still humms but no motion...any ideas will help...i have already tryed the cave man method. have also tryed to un-plug and plug... nothing.

Sounds like something is stuck in it. Disconnect it and back flush at the sink. You should be able to see the impeller either through the inlet or outlet. Take a pencil or something to see if you can turn the inpeller back or foreward. If free, plug in and see if it runs. If not, take out the screws and CAREFULLY remove the front housing. Try it without the housing. If it won't run, go buy a new pump!!

thanks bass... pump is up and running... i took it apart and spun it, guess all it needed was a kick start

I had a little giant. I almost always had the knack the pump against the floor a few times and then it would go. This will save you some time next time as you won't need to take it apart...

if your pump is sticking you might want to wash it out. It seem like is has gotten calcium build out. Not a good thing since this can burn the pump.
