Help settle an arguement

I am having an ongoing arguement with the husband over the 210g fowlr. I think I am fully stocked and he wants a miniatus grouper. Current inhabitants are : 4" yellow tang, 8" niger, 8" blue throat, 7" banana wrasse, 4" soldier fish, 3" evil tomato clown, juv. emperor and a 11" SF eel. He wants either the grouper or a dog faced puffer and I am happy with what is in there now and don't want to increase the bio-load. I have a 55g sump/fuge with an ASM g3 or g4 ( can't remember..case of CRS attacking)
Can he have his fish choice or do I tell him it's maxed out ?

I think that when all your fish are full grown that you will be pushing it . A grouper or dogface will just get to big with the fish you have now.

The emporer, soldierfish, and snowflake still have lots of going too do. I don't think you're overstocked, but IMO either one of those two choices would put you over.

You might want to bump up that filtration in the future lol, Get some Ozone or UV or sumthin. Puffers are extremely messy eaters, which would increase you bioload alot. Groupers on the other hand will eat anything in their path, and Minatus groupers are the worst grouper you could get, they are mean, they are territoral, and they will eat the smaller fish in you tank....

Thanks for the help. I am happy with what's in there now and didn't want to add anything else. I do have a UV on there and am planning on getting a phosphate reactor to help with the occasional GH algae I get. He doesn't do ANY of the upkeep and trying to convince him that "just one more fish" will require even more than I do now is like talking to a wall. Thanks again !

Is that an 8' long by 24" wide tank? If so I think you would be ok. Upgrading the size of your fuge can go a long way towards helping with filtration. I go 1/3 the size of my tank and has always helped me and I fully stock and feed 2-3 medium meals a day. The grouper will be aggressive but only if something wanders in front of its hole. Otherwise he won't even pay attention. They are fun to watch at feeding time and all your fish are pretty aggresive eaters so I think he would fit right in. Good luck with whatever you chose.

I have the same tanksize with an Emperor Angel on the way as well as have an existing 30" Snowflake. What you have RIGHT NOW will be considered overstocked within a year or two. If you don't already, I'd be willing to bet you are heading towards a nitrate issue and may notice an increase in hair algae problems. Likely, the Emperor Angel will suffer the most as it is the least hardy of the bunch.

If you are even considering a puffer or a grouper, in both instances you are adding a very messy eater. If you don't care about the well being of your fish and simply want to fill your tank... go for it. If you want a happy successful tank, consider donating a trigger or the eel to another hobbyist.

You said it best... BIOLOAD!!!!!

Sharkbait...I do care about my fish which is why I asked on here and showed the link to my husband.

I can't part with either of my triggers. I have grown too attached I would guess you could say. Same can be said for the SF. IF, i could catch the soldier and the clown, I would be willing to part ways with them. The clown came from a fellow reefer that couldn't keep his hateful "you know what" anymore. He was killing other fish. The soldier was an impulse buy my husband made and I have never really cared for the coloration or the habits. Stupid thing stays behind the rockwork most of the time.

I just wanted the opinions of the experts to side with me on not adding additional fish. Thanks to all for the help in persuading him that, just because the tank is huge, he can't have 20 fish.
