Help! Small catastrophe....

Okay, so I was away yesterday and apparently something (probably my bulldozer of a turbo snail) knocked over my frogspawn! I dont know exactly how long it was laying on top of one of my soft corals. They both seem to have sustained a fair amount of damage. The softie appearing to have taken the worst of it. What should I do to avoid/minimize my loses? Water change? Chemipure? Im sure there are a multitude of chemicals being put off by both to try to kill the other. Also part of the soft coral appears to be almost completely deteriorated on part of the stalk. I will try to mount the top of it if it survives, but should I be concerned about the tissue that is disintegrating being in my tank poisoning the other inhabitants?

Run some carbon if you don't already. If there are noticeable areas that won't recover from the damage just cut them away from both the corals. Other than that everything should be just fine after a while.

I had a sinularia fall on my lobo... It looked awful, but since I was already running carbon, all I could do was wait... They both looked normal in a few days.

I am always afraid of over reacting in these situations. Sometimes I lose a coral because of it.

Everyone always says reef tanks take patience. Does anyone believe this applies to an emergency situation like this?

Don't worry too much. I over-react in most situations when it comes to my tanks, but I'll give you the same advice I got from a good friend.... calm down and do what you know is best, and everything will be fine :-)

It seems everything is okay. The froggie has perked up again, and that was my biggest concern. The softie, however, I couldnt leave alone. I ended hacking almost half of it off and cutting off the deteriorating mass. The thing needed to be thinned out anyway. I actually cant even notice how much I cut off unless I look at the large cut stalk on the base. What was left just seemed to open up more. Now I also have four pretty large frags of it that I can spread around. My clowns were a littled ****ed at first that their house shrunk, but they seem to like its roominess now.
