Help, spiderweb like stuff growing on Zoo colony.

Need some help with getting rid of this stuff. It's like a white spiderweb like thing that grows all over the colony and kills it. I tried picking it off but it just falls apart and I end up crushing and killing all surrounding zoo's.

How do I get rid of this stuff and prevent it?

It's mucus from a Vermetid Snail.

What I refer to as tube-worm "spunk"

I get that tube worm spunk too. It comes from a hole in my LR that has a near clear worm(or tenticle) searching for food all day.

I mean everytime i stir up the water for any reason, they spunk.
Its like "Oh my god i might die.......must.......reproduce!!"
