HELP!!! Strange Colony Growing on Live Rock

Hello,

I'm new to the hobby and kept a 20 gal tank for about 1.5 yrs with live rock, sand bed, 2 clowns and a yellow tail damsel.

For filtration I use a basic AquaClear 50 mounted filter with the 3 stage media.

I noticed a weird weed like colony growing on the live rock and it was spreading very quickly, I am now seeing it sprout in other areas on the live rock. It doesn't react when touched. I took the advice from the LFS and soaked the areas in fresh water but I'm curious if anyone has experienced this and if there was a different remedy you tried. What is it anyway? At first I thought it was aphasia but it doesn't seem to be. Any help is appreciated.

Unfortunately cannot see the post because it is your first and you attached a picture there is a lock on it. I think when you post a second post without a picture you might get unlocked

Actually there is a SPAM software that grabs the post and blocks it. All you need to do is post in this thread with nothing showing and then once you post hit the red triangle on the left side of your post under your name and when you do that opens a box where you can alert a MOD that it needs to be released from the SPAM filter.

There hydroids I have a few in my tank and they come and go there's mixed reviews on these but I've never had a problem with them there actually little jelly fish and from time to time they will release and you'll see it pulsing around the tank almost the size of a pencil erasers

Thanks guys. I showed the same pics to the guys at my LFS and they had no clue what they were. Told me to soak the LR in freshwater. Really appreciate the prompt responses. I will research how to get rid of them online unless someone has a proven method.

Don't waste your time trying to pluck them off and IMO unless you break your tank down you won't, do you see any really small spider looking things on your glass? If you do that's them as well

I am actually migrating my tank from a 20 gal to a 30 gal so it gives me an opportunity to intervene with something more aggressive if needed. I don't see anything on the glass. If I leave them alone will they just go away? Do they hurt corals? I'm just paranoid about it taking over the tank.

It's thought that the survive in higher nutrient water I've noticed mine come and go over the years with no negative effects, if you wanted to be aggressive with it you could pull the rock out and let everything die off for a few weeks but chances are you'll see them somewhere else
