Help - tired of cracking tanks...

I have now cracked the back of a 12g JBJ DX and a 12g Aquapod. (At least I have lots of parts, I am laughing so I don't cry.) I am getting another Aquapod (the others will eventually get fixed).

I am trying to get an Ice Probe chiller installed. I went into this knowing the issues surrounding cracking, so I don't have any room to be upset.

The question is: How do I get the Ice Probe Chiller installed, without cracking the glass and without an external fuge or sump?

I live in San Antonio, high humidity, high levels of heat, have a 300 gal on same floor so ambient humidity stays high, fans help, but not much.

Thanks in advance....

Why don't you get a real tank like a 15 gallon Tru Vu ... one time buy and it's quality for life. Acrylic so you can do any sort of drilling and probing you'd like.

Some have placed a small square or triangle of acrylic on top of the tank and drilled it with a hole and mounted the chiller on the top with the probe down. Silicone the mount to the top railing so it doesn't move, but can be easily removed with a razor should the need arize. Good luck!

Wish I had pics.

I really didn't make clear what the problem was (sorry, "senior" moment). The drilling went fine, at least I think it went fine. On the JBJ there were no cracks or apparent hairlines after drilling. It was 10 days later that it started to leak, tank was not moved.

On the Aquapod it was, I assume, from the weight of the Ice Probe. Also no apparent crack after drilling. But, two days later after putting in the probe, setting there empty, I heard a pop. I went over and looked the tank over. No cracks visible. After my JBJ experience I was skeptical. So I removed the Ice Probe and a crack was found.
