Here is the best pic I could get it is browning on the stump in the bottom. yesterday I noticed the top started leaning over. then today I noticed the brown on the stump.

what should I do?

I was thinking of cutting all the way accross the stump. is this something I should do?

do you dip soft corals in anything?

what is the brown color from?

I have had this toad stool for about 3 years now with no problems, but it has not really grown at all.

I would take it out of the main aquarium and put it in the QT specially if you are going to be gone.

Smell it. if you smell rotten I would cut it. Touch the brown part. it should be firm.

Hey Roger,

You can see the brown on the base of this one. All my toadstools have it. I notice mine will droop once in a while...maybe unhappy or expelling water? Anything near it that could be irritating it like a frogspawn or hammer coral?

Clams put out something from the mantel that could cause the browning, but I would leave it unless the leather starts to have tissue lose.

mine went through that stage for over 5 months...

It just started opening back up 3 weeks ago...

Now it is back to normal... Don't give up unless you notice tissue loss

Mine has also got the brown on the base. It will also occasionally droop for no reason and be back to normal within a couple days. Hope that helps :)
