Help!!! Torch Coral guts coming out?

Hi

Last week I picked up my first Lps, it being a Torch coral. It seemed to have been doing very well, fully extended and looking as happy as a coral could look. About one hour ago it started to retract, then this brown slime started coming out of its mouths. All my fish where very much interested in this and my yellow tang would eat it all up. Every couple of seconds a tiny pellet would come out and my clowns would snap it up. My cleaner shrimp would also jump on the coral for a second and run off, then after a minute or so come back and repeat. It has two heads and both are doing the same. Their mouths are also completely open. Is it exuming it's internals?? I took a video, but my camera on my iPhone can't pick it up properly. I'm gonna try and post something in a minute. Right now my lights went out on the tank and i think I should leave them off to reduce any kind of stress if the coral is indeed in trouble. Please let me know if I should be doing anything.?!:sad2:

Too much light will sometimes cause corals to expel their Zooxanthellae like that. Another possibility is it's just taking a crap.
What are your parameters? How big is the tank? What kind of lighting do you have? Where is the coral located in the tank etc. The more information you can provide the better.

Thanks for quick reply. I have a 75 gallon standard 4 foot tank. Have six T5 bulbs. All six running from 13:30 to 20:30. Two bulbs running from 13:15 to 21:00. My last parameter readings where in check but I will start to take a new reading now. Regardless of the readings should I preform a water change? I placed the coral about 10-12 inches from the water surface. Water flow is with a mp10 and gyre 150, giving a steady back forth motion.

Some of my euphyllias do the same. They always come back to normal shortly after. I agree that what you're seeing is excess zoo. My tank has been hitting 85 recently causing this more often.

One thing I just noticed is my temperature climbed to 80.4 f!! Is this too high? I normally have it at 78f. I guess the new lights are driving it higher now.

Does it look like the picture below? This could also be bacterial issues. Check out the link below. Very interesting read.
