FroMan
Insane in the Brain
I've had a torch in my tank successfully living and splitting over the last 2 years or so. This past Thursday I noticed some discoloration in one of the heads. Over the weekend (friday-saturday) I noticed two other heads looking strange.
Yesterday (sunday), the skirts on all three heads had come loose from the stalks and the tenticles completely pulled in on all heads to the point they were no longer visable.
I did a ~25 gallon water change yesterday and siphoned off some of the dead/dying tissue.
Parameters last night
temp = 76.5°F
sg = 1.025
pH = 8.3
NO3 = 0
PO4 = .3
Alk = 8.8 dkH
I realize that phosphates are a little high, but this is about normal for my tank. (oscillates between .1 and .3 depending on the day)
The only item that changed in the last two weeks was that I pulled a power head out of the tank for 3 days to clean it. (was vibrating and making noise) I realize that flow was reduced for a little while, but with a mag 9.5 and a maxijet 1200 there is still a good amount of current in the tank.
Any ideas as to what could be causing this?
I'm going to fire up my phosban reactor later tonight with some media and carbon in it to try and clean up the water a bit, but I also don't want to shock the tank either.
Thoughts?
