I'm trying to treat some fish (ick!) in a bare quarantine tank with copper sulfate (ionic/non-chelated). I am using the Salifert copper test kit but somehow the reagent doesn't cause any color change despite what I believe to be correct dosing.
As a test, I drew up 2ml of my actual copper solution (which is light blue in color) and tried to test it with 5 drops of the Salifert reagent per instructions. I expected the color change to be dramatic and read off the charts, but there was no color change at all.
Anyone have ideas on what might be going on and how I should proceed with treatment from here?
