HELP! Tube anemone gone wild

I dont know what the heck is going on, and there seems to be little interest /info on the web. My 4 plus yr old tube anemone suddenly got a huge base tube that wont go back into the sand bed. I have other tubes doing fine in the tank,,Anyone know what this thing is doing?

Looks healthy to me.

no.. not healthy, he left his tube,floated around the tank and despite my attempts to re-bury him he has gone missing.

Well it does sounds like a bailout, like coco and feather worms do when stressed. Only 1 time did my coco worm reappear in a new place. The rest never did reappear So keep your fingers crossed that he shows back up.
