Help understanding the Osmolator setup

Hi. I have a new Osmolator here waiting to be installed. I just read through the manual, and thought I understood the install, but now realize I don't understand the sensors.

I think I understand that the float sensor is what shuts off the pump when your maximum water level is reached?

The cone shaped optical sensor that points downward should be placed at what level? Does this optical sensor get submersed to the lowest water level you want , and when the water level drops to the tip of the cone it turns on the pump? Or should it not be submersed?

I'm usually good at understanding technical stuff, but at times the Tunze instructions for their equipment leave me confused.

Thanks,
Terry

Hello, the cone shaped sensor is set at the point where you want your water level to stay. As to how much is submerged your best bet is to hook it up and with your water level manually adjusted to where you want it, lower the sensor til the green LED turns on solid. Then set your hanger accordingly. One very important note is to make sure you rinse the cone sensor in vinegar!! If you don't it will read falsly and over fill the sump. The float sensor should also be set so that when you shut off your return pump and the water drains back that it won't set off the alarm or it will drive you nuts.

OK & thanks. Still a bit confused (nothing new for me!), Does the cone shaped optical sensor control both turning on and turning off the pump? And the float is only a backup safeguard to prevent overflow?

I'm installing this in a 34g tank - no sump, so I'm just trying to maintain a set level in the tank itself.
