HELP!!!! Used aqurium which one!!!!! newbie

Look at some setups and see what you like the best so you can plan for something similar. We looked for several weeks before we bought our 1st tank and grew from there!

Buddy.

There's a reef swap meet out in Ladner in September if you can wait that long (maybe not for the tank, but for lights, skimmer etc it might be worth waiting to see what people bring)... preliminary info is on the canreef board in the Lower Mainland section.

i want somthing thats really white so colores pop out from all the coarl n fish. with like a ridge runing down the center, ill have no problem desigin it.lol i love makin up fish tanks. only done fresh water so far. yea mabey ill stop buy the fish store n chek out the new tanks.

I would just buy a 75 reef ready. Wait for a good deal, i baught mine of craigs list for 65 bucks! And also i know people say to sit and wait, but i have had about 10 saltwater tanks and i have started each and every one off with a clown fish or damsel, and never lost one. Gives you something to look at. Just make sure you dont go cheap on lights!!!!

yea that way better then like 200 bucks fo that ugly blue backgroud on. thx for the info fbnitro,
so wuts the deal with these sumps i dont get it is it where all the conectins for the emqupment go when they get put into the watter. whats a sump for.

A sump adds water to your system. A 75gallon tank plus lets say a 40 gallon breeder for a sump, gives you a total of 115 gallons. The more water the more room for a mistake. Also i sump lets you place your skimmer, heater, fuge and anyother equipment in it so its out of site! Just helps things look better. I would paint the back of any tank you get black. Makes it so you dont see any cords and algea doesnt show up as well.

so u use the sump for breeding and placing all the gear in, y would u need to add water to the tank.... for when the levals drop because of evapration n to have to water on hand. is that right.

No, the water in the 40 gallon tank(you dont actually breed anything in it, its just the name of the type of tank) you place a pump in the sump that circulates water from the main display tank back to the sump, then from the sump to the display. This also cause surface skimming from the over from in the main tank.

Lol that was my mistake i forget hes a newbie :) i should have just said a 40 gallon tank! And yes it also makes water changes easy, esp if you get an auto top off unit and place a bucket or RO water next to it, you wont ever have to top it off, just do the water changes. Also i think you should do a lot more research on sumps and reef ready tanks before you buy anything at all.

The biggest mistake you can make is rushing into a set up. Take your time ready about the difference in set ups. For a starter tank, i would not go smaller then a 75. The bigger the tank, the more room for error. Also do ALOT of research, enough untill you dont have questions anymore(which will never happen lol). Just do enough so you know about the different set ups and actually know what a sump is and how to set one up.

lol yea knolege is power eh. thx for all the info n help guys. im going to pass out now good night yall. any yall see any good tanks in vancouver let me know.
