if you want colors to pop in the corals and fish I suggest going with a dark colored background. black is my preffrence

Salty, DONT go smaller then 75 for your first tank! Also i would MAKE SURE, it is reef ready. It will cost a little more for the set up but its worth it in the long and short run!

so what entails a reef ready, ive been divin in head first into the boards.
but what entails a reef ready aaqurium. like the 40g part segerated by a peice of glass from the rest of the tank or it haings of in the back like in that tank with the blue back gound. n whats with all the different sized peiced of glass in the sumps, thx

Dont buy one from a site. Go to a store. Cheaper, no shipping. A reef ready tank has a built in over flow that brings water down to the sump. THen in the sump you have a pump to bring water back to the tank. THe different pieces of glass in the sump make up the different chambers of the sump. The return chamber, the inlet where you use 3 pieces of glass as a bubble defuser, a refugium and a spot for you heater, and skimmer and anything else.

thx fo the info ocean!. so in the tank is the over flow slighty lowet that the height of the tanks so that it( overflowes) into it. n is a pump used to get the h20 from the over flow to the sump or is that y they talk about drillin tanks.

or do they drill tanks to insurt rods to hold coral up. im not really not sure on the last one lol.
n what does a new 75 gal sw ready tank run. do they coome with sumps or is it spereat

Sump just buy a 20 long. As far as the over flow, yes its lower and it gravity feeds the water to the sump.

Well if you buy a reef ready one, it will come pre-drilled. That is so the water can go from the sump to the tank and back to the tank.
