Help w/ Aquamedic MH Fixture

I bought an Aquamedic tank from someone on craigslist a few months back. It came w/ this Aquamedic Aquastarlight fixture 2x150W. The ballast and everything are w/n the fixture, so no ballast boxes. Only one side works, and I can't get the other side to work. I've tried a brand new Phoenix bulb and it won't fire. I have a couple of questions.

1. Do these European fixtures require different bulbs from the ones we buy in the states?

2. Anyone have one of these fixtures?

There are several US distributors of this fixture - Customer Aquatics, Premium Aquatics to name a couple - I bought mine at Custom Aquatics - the Aquamedics English Website is http://www.aqua-medic.de/en/

BTW - my aquamedics fixture (Oceanlight - separate ballast) takes any HQI 250W DE bulb so long at it is HQI like the Phoenix - so it sounds like either a switch problem (if there are 2 switches one for each side), a wiring or ballast problem - see web site for help listed in previous reponse.

If you can, open the unit and start testing for voltage before and after the switch etc. You could have a bad ballast.

Just remember it's 110v.
