help...what are these bugs?

I left all the coral in my tank when I dosed, and I have quite a bit of coral. They were all fine, also all of my inverts were fine.

Yeah, I missed that there is a hippo tang in a 12 gal tank.:( It needs to be said... a nano is no place for a tang, regardless of his size. Tangs are open water swimmers, and need high oxygenated tanks...something which nanos lack. Not to mention this fish will top out at over 12".They are also big eaters since they are herbivores, so consequently they expel alot of waste, which is taxing the water quality in such a small tank. This might be a good time to consider a more suitable home for him. At the very least, remove him to a 5 gal bucket partially full with an airstone while doing the treatment. FW exit can deplete oxygen.
Some better choices for nano fish: small gobies, small blenny, firefish, clowns..
I would'nt keep one, and I have a 90 gal tank.

watch out 5 0 is coming - tank police - you must have missed the other thread where we said that she is getting the fish big enough so that my fish dont eat him -we got him when he was the size of your fingernail - i am just joking about the tank police - thanks for all the good info - but we have everything under control - but if you could tell us how to make a tang eat hair algae that would be great!

for any others that might get this, and a possible hint at easier siphoning.... if you have a sump on your system, start the siphon, then let the other end empty into a filter sock inside your sump, so you can spend a good hour removing all that you see, picking up rocks and looking around them.

Also, airline tubing is ok, but something a size larger works 10x better. If you use something larger, it will just have a stronger flow (i.e. moving more water) and with it dumping in sump, your return will pump it back up.

Who has hair algae? The best way to eradicate hair algae is to figure out it's cause, and change whatever it is you are or are'nt doing that is causing it.

Reasons for hair algae are too much nutrients..so: overfeeding, overstocking, inadequate or wrong type of clean up crew, poor flow, detritus build up on rocks, inadequate protein skimmer..or in the case of a nano...not doing weekly water changes, not using airated RO/DI water with 0 TDS, bulbs that need to be changed....
If this is a nano that has hair algae, there is no appropriate invert or fish that will eat it. I would suggest manual removal of as much as possible, and address any or several of the concerns I have listed. The use of a turkey baster {kept for this purpose} to blow off detritus & leftover food before water changes can help. It gets down in the cracks & crevices of the rock and fuels the algae growth.

Not every tang will eat hair algae. Like Carole mentioned, I'd get rid of the source. Otherwise it is just a coverup of the issue.

so i got the treatment stuff-how many times should I dose them? It worked immediately and there were ALOT of them...i would rather not use the entire bottle b/c it seems like a little over kill. any suggestions?
