Help! What have I done?

Woke up this AM to find my H2O has turned cloudy like diluted milk.

Yesterday I did a 4 gal. H2O change and changed from using 2 Little Fishes 2 Part and Red Sea Mg supplements to Seachem's Aquavitro line.

Paramaters before adding the Aquavitro's beginners doses yesterday:
SG 1.025; pH 8.0; Ca 380; dKH 8; Mg 1215; NH4 0; NO3 0.

Today:
SG 1.026; pH 7.8 (pinpoint moniter and API and Red Sea );
Ca 380 API; dKH 8 API; Mg 1240 Salifert; NH4 and NO3 0.

All corals and critters appear happy.

So, what have I done? Or could this be unrelated to the dosing?
I have been dosing for about a month when #'s decreased over time. Ca from 450 to 320; dKH from 9 to 6; Mg 1200 to 1080. I've always done a 4-5 gal per week H2O change use Red Sea Coral Pro which when newly mixed tests: Ca 420; dKh 7; Mg 1200; pH 8.2.

Do I need to do anything or just wait it out? Should I continue to dose just Ca? Or maybe just turn the Red Sea Max into a lawn ornament!!

I don't know what happened-- someone smarter than I will chime in soon maybe. Either way, if your corals are fine then I would say Skim hard, Run Carbon, and do some water changes over the next week and things should be OK. Plus if I remember, you have softies right? All the milky water stories I have heard of have been from dumping excess kalkwasser in or Alk. Good luck

It may be serious or may not be.

Do you have macro algae? Some of it can put out stuff like. If so, it needs to be removed by skimming and water changes.

Also, do you have sand or crushed coral? If a fish is messing with it and disturbing it, you could have something like this happen.

Thanks Paul and Scott for your replies.

I don't have any Macro Algae, and I don't think it's from the substrate, crushed coral, being disturbed.

I did a 4 gal H2O change this afternoon, and it looks a tad bit better. Water parameters unchanged and all fauna still appear unaffected. Guess I won't move Max out onto the lawn just yet.

From the sounds of it you added too much 2 part and had Ca precipitate out... This happens from time to time (especially in nanos) and is not detrimental in most cases... It should have cleared up by now, though the Ca will settle and leave a white film on everything... :D Sorry for the late reply... ;)

Randy,

I'm pretty sure that's what happend. Although, I was trying to be very conservative with the doses. It's all clear now, never got any white powder precip, and all parameters have had a good response with a slight increase in all. And everybody looks happy. Go figure.

Scott,

Thanks for the call back. I was just wondering if I should do any more water changes , had done 2. Decided not to being as all seems well.
