So I have a ton of different zoas in my tank and they are all doing fine, but for some reason my colony of eagle eyes is acting weird. Only about half the polyps on the colony will open and some polyps have what look like a stem coming out of them (best way I can explain it)

Any thoughts on what might be causing it?

Im thinking a dip in coral rx.....good idea or wait?

This has been going on for about a week now.

Heres a few pics

they have plenty of light

They are in a 125 gallon under 3x150 mh and 4x96 pc.

They are about 14 inches from the light.

They've been there for months and always open and happy.

So I dipped the colony in coral rx this morning and we ll see what happens

Also. Nothing has changed in the tank so I dunno

All my other zoas look fine. Kinda stumped on this one

I had some doing the same thing, got a TDS meter for my RO/DI and found out that i needed to change my filters, Maybe check that if you have your own unit.

some of mine do that with temp swings . on those real cold nights or real hot days its tough to beat the thermometer . could it be a temp swing and they didnt like it .

I think it could be bacteria infection because not the whole colony is affected yet.
try to dip with Lugol solution, if it continues to spread.
Careful when you dip. Try to match the temp. for the dipping.

Did you check at night for predators?

I don't think it's a light/temp problem in the system.
Normally it would do to the whole colony at once.
They're hurt. They're "guts" are out.

Beautiful polyps!

Grandis.

I agree with Grandis I think is a bacteria infection judging on the pics some of the zoas have very skinny stem and they look brownish on the base.
Looks like is only part of your colony so just deep it see what you can save.
One way you can find out is to smell the colony and if it smells bad or rotten is an infection.
I recommend anyone before buy your zoas and palys to observe all this thigs and if you can smell them..lol sounds silly I know but is true.
Good luck with them for sure you can save lots of them.
