I upgraded from a 10g to a 20 long with sump about a week ago. Only one frag has failed to open up since then (hulk zoas) and seems that some of the polyps are dying. I came home from work this afternoon to find this

I have several other zoa frags that are not affected and did an emergency water change as soon as I saw it. The white growth has shown up over night

I've had some of my colonies do that. I always say they are reserving their polyp structure. It's funny, its like they dissolve their face and restructure it.

Did u touch them with your fingers? Sometimes they will quickly try to close up and not do correctly and disfigure their polyp. Keep an eye on them. U can also dip them in medicoral and a precautionary measure. Especially if you've lost some already. They might have caught an infection.

Take the frag and put in seperate container,,with water of course..Take a turkey baster and see if that white spot is a sponger of damaged polypls that are rotting and a fungus has developed..If it blow off easy,,its a fungus from damaged/dead polyps...If it is a fungus,,get a small pair of tweezers and scrape what decaying polyps remain off of colony and plug,,watching the good polyps..
Also if my eyes serve me correct,,,this zoa colony has the Zoa Pox,,, can you get a better picture???
