Help will Canopy

I just ordered some new T-5 lights and I am planing some changes to my canopy. Currently the inside is protected with Spar Urethane, however it is showing some wear after about 11 months. While I am installing the new T-5's I would like to add something to protect the wood a little better. So, what should I use on the inside of my canopy to protect the wood? Pictures are always helpful too.

Thanks
Brad

Wow, I just looked that up. I would have guessed it would have lasted longer than that. Well my old DIY hood, I painted the inside white for a little reflection, and polyurethaned 3-4 times. It lasted 6 years before I took it down.
