I bought a diadema pseudochromis. It had the run of the 90gal tank and happy. Then, I made the mistake of introducing a very similar-looking purple basslet. The diadema now hides continually and it can't come out from behind my powerhead without getting it's tail nearly nipped off. Do I have any hope? And will this basslet do it to any others I introduce (it seems to leave the pajamas, green chromis, shrimp goby and jawfish alone.

With your experiences, do you guys think the basslet will do it to others or is it just b/c the pseudochromis looks identical to him?
Thanks for your wisdom!!

IME, I have only kept phseudochromis frindmani. My fridmanis have been mellow and bold individuals. But they do not tolerate similar body types or colors. You must have a big space (relative to the tiny fish) to keep them with other similar fish. Even ading a second frindmani requires weeks of patients and using a holding container in the display to allow the established fish to adapt to a new addition. Even then, it's a nail bitter to release the new one.

You have to choose which fish to keep, and be very careful about new selections.

If it's the diadem anthias I'm thinking of (Pseudanthias parvirostris), they're incredibly reclusive fish. One of them has to go.

That's different then the diadema pseudochromis.

Many of the pseudochromis species can get pretty belligerent. It's a good bet that if you get rid of the diadema, the purple pseudochromis could still terrorize any other fish you try to add down the road.

I'm sorry, I read diadem anthias.
