Is their any way to post a movie clip that I got of my reef tank? their. I got about a 20 secound clip that is of a crab that I found in my worm culture rock, I can't get a picture cause its in the back of the tank but was able to shoot the movie clip with my digital camera and I want to know what kind of crab he is, He has red striped legs, and has two big claws and then these 2 things that look like gloves that are yellow and he uses them to swat in the water like catching stuff to eat and then putting them in his mout really interesting would like to know if he is reef safe and what kind he is... thanks everyone

it doesn't have any anemones on it though.

quote from melev's site

"It is very small, and doesn't typically survive long in captivity. The pom poms are actually tiny anemones. The crab puts them on like gloves! When the crab molts (shedding its exoskeleton) it recovers the anemones and puts them on the ends of it claws again. When it gets in a defensive situation, it waves the pompoms to scare away the predator."

They can use other things besides anemones or they could be shrunken up. Guess we'll just have to see the pic/movie.

eee

Can't find a site that I can upload the movie too then link it here so that you can see

This might work I uploaded it to here so maybe it can be accessed from this link

thanks for looking at it and letting me know what kind of crab it is...

crab movie

the things it uses to put what ever in his mouth are like fingers I would say their about 6-9 on each arm and their yellow, bright yellow and it just does that all day long, going to try to get a better video when i see him again maybe somebody will be able to tell me what it is

yup watched the video.. Good crab! Useless, but fun to watch. The claws are really only used to defend itself. Keep it, I have several in my tank. They hang out under the rocks, and overhangs.
