help with a new zoas

I got some zoas UPS ground. It took 2 days. The water was hot when I got them but everything seemed ok. I put them in my tanks and it has been 2days now. First 35hrs no light at all ( natural sunlight ) Now my lights have been on for 8 hrs and not one polyp has opened! How long should they take to open? or is there no rule of thumb?
Any hints on helping them?
BTW... My actinic has gone out on my PC so it is only 10K PC on them. Do you think that has anything to do with it? It just whent out last weekend and my other Zoas look just fine. The new additions came from a tank with MH and VHO. So it looks like a cloudy day to the new zoas.
Any advise would be helpfull.

PCs and metal halides only look different to the corals when they are lower then 18 inches in the tank. Other then that they emit the same amount of light. When i get trades in, sometimes it takes a few days before they will open up. I'm sure they're just getting aquainted with the tank. Took my PSPs 4 days to open at all, much less fully.

Hello :D

Well, the acintic bulb certainly would have encouraged them to open when used on the first day, imo. I would get it replaced with either another actinic or another sort of bulb 10K or more... especially if the little guys were used to MH and VHO before... hopefully they will adjust though.

Given the light situation, I would think that it would take longer than normal for them to open. There is no definite hard and fast time expectaion, all of the ones I have gotten have been different. Some are open in the box, and some the caribbean fragile ones take over a week. Getting the bulb replaced would help, as well as perhaps a SW iodine dip to promote health and healing.

Hope they open :(

Thanks for the help. I am working on the lights tonight. They are still not open. Maybe they will come out and play tomorrow.

Be sure not to move them in the tank, either... pick a good spot and then leave them there, because each time you move them trying to get them to open, you stress them more.
