Help with auto water change set up

So I have decided to try and automate my water changes and can use some advice from those who have done this.

I am thinking of using a litermeter and remote pump to move the new and old water about 1 gal per day. My main question is around my ato which is running with no issues so I don't want to mess with it.

I am thinking that I have use my apex to shut off the ato an hour a day when I am running the litermeter to change the water. Would I have to place the litermeter on a timer to run it at the same time as the ato is off?

Thanks in advance Dan

Plug the liter meter pump into your EB8 (APEX) and control how much it runs. You can also code into the APEX to disable your ATO whenever the liter meter is running.

I should have clarified my tank and apex is in the living room the rodi unit and litermeter will be in the basement. So I can't hook it into the eb 8.

So you have me thinking could I place the litermeter and remote pump by the tank instead of down on basement. Thinking outlined the pumps will be doing the same work just in reverse. The bin is in the basement but pump is in living room. That could work.

If you use a dual head pump to add and remove water at the same time and at the same rate, there is no need to shut off the ATO.

I use a dual head Reef Filler for water changes, and I never shut off the ATO as the water level in the sump doesn't change. :)

yes, or two of the 1000's.

Bear in mind that it is a noisy pump, while the litermeter is not. So it is suited to a basement (where I have it) or garage.

Thanks Randy I found some other posts you made on this I am still a month or so away from this so more research will be done.
