Help with birdsnest

Birdsnest has about half of its polyps open not growing anymore this has been going on for about 3-4 weeks for the first 3 months it has had great growth now there is alage growing on the tips, what should I do I plan on starting kaljwassee which I have when my apex gets here tommorw and I can watch the ph

Alk is pretty high I'd say not sure if that would make a difference.....maybe to strong of lighting?

Mag is 135 or 1350? Typo?

Burnt tips usually means high Alk. Also your system could be too clean with zero NO3/PO4. Do you run GFO? You could be striping the water too much.

I doubt that. Unless he uses alot of it....I have those same numbers and.my sps are great

Yes 1350 on the magnesium I do run a dual reactor carbon and gfo but have heavy feedings in turn, the only on alage in my tank is periodically red long stringy alage on the corals

Do you have it in a high flow area? What is the light condition?

I just got one of these it was like yours at the LFS, great price though...fragged it to get rid of the bad tips and algae spots. Glued it to a rock and set it low in the tank. Looked ok but I moved it to higher light and flow and it's taking off.

I would prolly move it down a bit, mine do best in mid light, I save acros for the high lighting.
