i just got a small maxima clam and it seems not to good.what should i do?it not opening and there's nasarius snails around it.should i dip it on lugol's or just let it be.

If it's closed, that's usually a positive sign from what I've read. If a clam is really bad off, it will not be able to close itself. It has to use it's muscle to close itself. So probably should just try not to bother it for a day or so and see what happens. The snails may just be interested in eating stuff off it's shell. Hopefully it's OK...

hey mike like rdmpe said let it be for 24 hours. i'm assuming he is on the sandbed? if so pick it up and inspect it good for piramid snails and bristle works attacking it's foot. i know my spelling sucks so don't say anything christee. and is he is still closing up try putting him on a piece of rock close to the sand on stable place and watch him there. and if that does not help give me a ring and i'll come over and check him out. 321-266-8564

man rc needs to offer spell check for us non- premium members and dumb members:lol:

Free spell check: paste your post into MS word or other program with spell checker on computer :):):)

I would be a tad concerned if nassarius were at my snail, usually that means there is some kind of decaying tissue that smells all tasty and yummy to them- which isn't always so great for the clam :( Any updates on how its doing?

better yet, get mozilla. It red underlines misspelled words and then with a right click gives you replacement options!
