Help with clarity in 600 gallon!

Hey guys, I have been dealing with hazy water for the last month or so. Here is what I have implemented so far...

40watt emperor uv- no effect, must not be bacterial bloom.

1 litre of purigen- really no effect at all

Some carbon- haven't changed this recently and not using rox .8

Water changes- have not done any water changes per se, just wet skimming 10-20 gallons a week.


Now I think this is all an effect of me using meds in the display recently.
I used Ick shield CP powder, and I have used prazipro as well. I just figured carbon, uv, and wet skimming would remove the meds and color and anything associated with them. When I turn my bright ati sunpower on, the water has a murky green haze to it. I'm thinking that may be blue lights mixing with yellow tinted water??

I do have 250 gallons of saltwater prepared, do you think I should just go for some massive water changes or what?

I run vodka just for its outstanding clarity benefits myself (super low dosing as I'm not doing it for reduced no3/po4). That's what I would consider.
 
Are you sure that the stingray is not stirring up dust from the sandbed?
 
Sorry, but what books are you reading on reef keeping? You should be keeping the GAC up. You should be doing 10% water changes every week to bring the clarity back. You should never medicate your main display tank as the meds get absorbed into the rocks and substrate and can take a very long time to dissipate. I would stop the vodka dosing until the tank clears up. If nitrates and phosphates are still high at that point then you might start back to dosing vodka in smaller amounts.

No books, just 10 years of doing this and reading this forum too much. I am using carbon, just don't think it should be mandatory for clarity, but can help. We won't turn this into a debate on whether CP can be dosed in the display or not ;) It took care of ich for me, I will just say that. 80 gallons of wet skimmate a month was my water change, but I will just start changing 60 gallons a week.

Hi, I'm a newbie here but I think I can be of some assistance.

looking at your pic, I'm not sure if it is a green tint or white. But you mentioned you dosed vodka so here goes.

I too dose vodka daily and in the beginning week I had a murky white tint to my tank water as well (although my tank is much smaller than yours). What I did was cut the dosage to half and ran my skimmer very wet, replacing the water as needed.

It went away in about 3 days.

Do you know anyone with a diatom filter? The old vortex filters were good for problems like this.
