Guys can somone help me. I have 0 patience left. I have been trying to start a siphon on my cpr overflow since 10 oclock last night. I had to give up and go to bed, and my tank has been sitting ever since. There is a pocket of air about 4 inches high in the overflow, and I can't get rid of it. I'm about to find out how far I can throw an aqualifter pump. It won't get rid of it. I ran some tubing into the pocket of air, is there a way I can connect it to a powerhead or something to force the air out of the overflow? It's been 13 hours so far and I'm about ready to lose it.....

run the tubing into the pocket of air and then suck ( with your mouth) all the air out. works every time...

Does anyone have a ph head with venturi that I might be able to borrow for a little while? I have tried to manually suck the air out and I keep getting mouthfuls, with no results. The pocket is too big.

Just run the siphon line from the overflow down to your sump. it will keep siphoning by itself and it will remove any air bubbles that might build up.

It's not working...I always have the siphon line running to the sump. The aqualifter pump is not powerful enough to get the air out apparently, or it's broken.

I just bought a cheap powerhead with venturi that solved the problem temporarily. But when it's turned off, the overflow still loses some siphoning power. The grate becomes completely submerged. Is that normal? I thought once the siphon was created, it should stay that way.

I think the grate should be submerged. Its wierd that you keep losing the siphon.
Do you have alot of micro bubbles in your tank? Are you getting micro bubbles from your return line?

also double check to make sure there is no cracks or anything on the overflow itself that might be letting air in.
