Well if your ammonia was at 2ppm (are you certain it was at 2ppm?) and now is at 0 I would say that the rock you added was already fully cycled and you are now safe to add livestock. It would be a good idea to make a major water change first to help bring down the nitrates, but the ammonia and nitrites at zero indicate the bacteria can process fish waste.

no need to test. once the brown algae turns green you should be done with the cycle, than test before adding fish

Hi Guys
now im Totally confused
i got red sea test kit and here are results
Amm 2.0
nitrit 0
nitrat 50

the old one still show s all 0
a see some brown algae on one of rocks but also i have coraline algae growing to another rocks (i bough 20 lb rock fully covered in coraline)

well thats the thing it was 2 but i dont think overnight 2 can turn to 0

2ppm to zero in 24 hours is what people who "stress test" their biofilters by pouring ammonia in the tank aim for. They say when your bacteria can do that the tank is ready. So it's not bonkers that your tank could do it. but I think also the really ammonia smell should be gone, and I like to feed for a week without any ammonia showing, personally.

+1
my chart i attached of 18 day cycle ........i didn't add fish for a week after

What about nitrates ? Water change ? I have a bunch of chateo in fuge but part of it looks light green and the other part dark. Why is that ?

i generally don't worry about nitrate reduction until after the cycle is completed.

so i would keep dosing, and keep testing until you're seeing it reliably convert over all the way with NH3/4 and NO2 being a solid 0.

as for the chaeto? could be lighting related? could be that some of it is dying off? hard to say.

Thank u for input.
My ammonia dropped to 0,.2 today ,nitrates between 20-50,nitrites 0 ,ph 8.2 So im assuming the cycle is in progress. What u suggest for fuge light ? I have cfl 5k i think warm white.
