That's how it works. I also IMHO think your pump is over kill. Plumb it with a gate valve and turn it down some.

Thanks for the info! I think I may go the herbie route and def a filter sock.

With a herbie, do I need a valve on the drain pipe or can I run it without?

Specifically you need a gate valve. A ball valve would be difficult to adjust

+1 gate valves = life easier

My buddy bought his at a Ace in Miami too, but the one in Ft. Lauderdale by me says they dont carry them.
