Help with Equipment Choice

Greetings:
I Will soon be setting up my 120 gal Reef Tank, Primarly SPS Corals. So far for tank Circulation , I have a Iwaki pump model MD 40-RT returning water from a ETS Sump ,Static return I decided not to use a Sea-Swirl. A Re-Built Turbelle 2002 Which I purchased from John Burleson in the Day :) For a HEFTY sum I might add!
And a #708 Power timer to drive it.

My Question is, Can a Stream pump be used with my Power Timer along with the Turbelle? Or Would another 2002 be a better choice? If Stream, Which model would you recomend?

Thanks for your Help!

The old power timer 708 cannot run a Stream. I would suggest this, keep your 2002, I have every part and while I am tired of rebuilding them I will do it if you want. I say that because they take a long time and innevitable something is out of whack and it takes a second shot to get it just right. Get the multicontroller 7094 and a 6000 Stream. Get a socket adapter 7094.40 which will allow you to connect the 2002 to the 7094. This will be the best option in my opinion.

Thanks for your Help and Equipment Suggestions,I will have to stew on this for a bit,This choice would mean having a useless unused in the Box 708, that may be difficult to sell without the 2002 :)

Hi Roger:
I've been kicking this around all last night and all day today, I'm more confused as to a decision on what to do.
The 120 is a all glass Reef ready, that will be 90% SPS-
lets forget I have the 708 and Turbelle 2002.
If I was to set this up before I bought the Power Timer/Turbelle
what would be the best Purchase and combination for this tank (It's 4x2x2 ).
Thanks again for your Help!

In that case I would buy 2 6000's and a multicontroller and if you wanted to get fancy add the wavebox when they come out and possibly wait for the new 7095 multicontroller.

Thanks Roger!
Sounds like a Plan! I just wish that new Controller came out a wee bit Faster! :) Whats the news on the release date?
Also, best mounting position for the Streams?
-Wolfgang

Controller is still set for October. Stream position varies with layout but we can worry about that later.

Hi Rodger-
I Ordered 2 6000 Streams and a 7095 Controller for my 120. I Decided to keep the Power Timer and 2002 Turbelle in case I need it for this or another Tank.
Do I need any special Mounting kits for my All Glass Brand Tank? Also, my Turbelle is missing the Strainer and the small nylon cup that fits over the Screw on the Mounting clip. Can I get these from you?
Any advice to the best place to aim these would be Greatly appreciated as Well:)
Thanks again!
-Wolfgang

The pumps now include the mounting hardware you will need. For your old pumps give me a call. I don't have any of the nylon pieces seperate but I am pretty sure I have some complete clamps in stock. I have the strainer for sure. 512-833-7546

Position varies wityh set up but it is generally recommeneded to go from back corner to front pane 1/3rd of the way in from the end.

Hi Rodger-
Got the stuff you sent me today! Man! Talk about F-A-S-T Shipping! :)
The part I had missing (That little nylon Cup) for the screw end, for the Turbelle, will not fit a AGA Rim! I have to leave it off, or no Dice.
Tunze needs to make up something better for AGA Tank Mounts.
Sure hope the Streams mount better!
Thanks again!

The problem with the 2002 and 4002 is they are 25+ years old and no one wants to invest any money in revising any of the tooling. They come up for canacelation every year but skate by because we own all the tools and equipment and they sell very well in warm climates like Greece, Italy, Brazil, and California. So, think of them as a product that is a living dinosaur.

We are always working to improve everything and I know the holders for the Stream work great on Oceanic. I know lots of people complain but I think that is because there is work involved and anything that isn't a suction cup is going to get complaints but the finished product is very rugged and stable. The mounting set does work with All Glass for the Streams but I have never tried it so there may be unique issues. I also know they don't work with caps. I never anticipated so many caps on aquariums since they seem counter to logic with Metal Halides and the heat issues.

Looking forward to getting my Streams Soon!!!!
BTW, AGA Reef Ready tanks have dual overflows one in each back corrner! So mounting Streams in each back corner is not possible!
Unless, a overflow mount is made:) If mounted on the back glass they would be on each inner side of the Overflows. fairly close apart.
Thanks again for all the Help and fast service!!!!
