Help with Equipment - for 250G Tank

Hello Everyone,

This is my first post after months of reading your material.

I'd like to say thanks to all you reefers! (How insane are we all!). Your information and setups have been inspiring to me. After growing up around small freshwater and marine tanks i've taken the plunge and ordered a 8 footer (All glass12MM approx 280G - display).

I have ordered a custom cabinet. The cabinet dimensions are 2600MM(L) * 600MM(W) * 900MM(H). Sound proofed and Ventilated (by 2 fans).

I was convinced by the LFS to purchase a Aqua Medic Reef 2000 Filtration System:

There is now a problem with me getting this equipment now so it looks like I need to fish around for new equipment.

I intend to keep very few fish, mainly corals, crustaceans, approx 250kg LR and 1inch bed of LS.

My lighting is 4 x 150w metal halide unit complete with 14000k double ended lamps 8 x 18w actinic PL tubes.

I already have a RO/DI Filter and Ozone (Redsea 200MG Deluxe).
3 * 300W heaters. The usual test kits etc.

Could you please suggest a skimmer? calcium reactor? size of sump? to replace the abovementioned Aqua Medic Reef 2000. I'd like it to look nice and neat, have oversized performance and be as quiet as possible.

(I'm not too fussed about price as id rather buy right from the get go.)

If ive left anything out id love to hear your opinions.

IMO, 150W is low for that tank deep especially for mainly corals tank. I think 250W is what you're looking for.
