Help with fillng BRS Reactor

I just got a BRS reactor that I am going to use for their HC GFO. It comes with two foam sponges. One obviously goes at the bottom with the media above it. How far up in the canister does the the second foam insert go? Does it matter?

The instructions say to leave the 2nd disc foam at the middle to filter out the finer particles

the second disc is in case you also want to run carbon at the top.

I am having trouble with the Maxi-Jet 1200 I have hooked up to the reactor. It is rattling. I tired a second pump and the same thing. Any ideas? Is it due to back pressure maybe?

I have the same rattling issue with the MJ 1200, it's definitely due to back pressure. It seems like alot of people have this issue when I googled. I used the suction cup to hold the MJ1200 in place and play with the outlet and it helped... a little.

I was considering getting a BRS Dual Reactor and ditch my canister filter. What worries me is, I have no sump or room for one in this setup. So I wonder if it would be OK to use a MJ1200 to pump from the tank over the side, down to the floor (around 48") and then back up? I just don't know if the MJ has enough power...
