Help with flow design on peninsula tank

Hello

I am designing a peninsula-style SPS tank that will measure

66" long (including ~5" inside a false wall at one end)
26" tall
36" front to back

So, about 270 gallons. It will have just one overflow incorporated within the false wall (continuous teeth across the top).

Flow:

Closed loop + Tunze wave box + a couple of controlled tunze pumps hidden inside the false wall (aka "Bricky's design).

Questions:

1. How thick does the glass need to be to accommodate the flow pressure? Is 1/2" thick going to be enough or do I have to go with 3/4" thick? The tank will be eurobraced, FWIW.

2. What pumps/controller should I incorporate into this design? I don't need high speed turnover through the CL (I don't think). My main objectives are to achieve excellent random flow throughout the tank in as quiet and energy efficient means as possible. If I could therefore drive the CL with an eheim or similarly quiet & efficient pump that will be my choice. I probably will not have a tank room, the sump and all pumps & fan will be in the same room as the display...so I will need to be very resourceful at creating QUIET.

Thanks very much for your suggestions.

1) I would go to 3/4" or make the tank slightly shorter, maybe 22". The wavebox stresses the seams and that stress would be reduced by a shorter water column otherwise I would get thicker glass for a more robust seam. The eurobracing helps but it is really how wide the seam is that is the critical element.

2)I might forego the closed loop, mainly because the small quiet pumps you want to use I don't think will move enough water to justify the expense. I would probably use a wavebox and I would leave an opening for a wavebox extension just incase. The tank is wide and wider tanks often need an extension to get a good size wave. If you dont need the extension you can place a 6201 in the same opening. I would probably do a dry run at this point and if the one wavebox meets your needs I would get a 6201 and a couple 6055's to place on the far end. If you need the extension I would probably get a 6201 and place it in a Stream rock and use a couple 6055's on the far end.
