ok so i got a fluval 203 from someone but its basically just the canister part, housing, media and top/slash motor, and i was wondering what else i need to get this thing running and if i could just but parts from the hardware store vs. buying expensive official hagen/fluval parts? I know i need some tubing to run from the tank to canister, but are there valves i need, and what do i need for the inlet and outlet in the tank? any help would eb appreciated...and thanks in advance

to make the U bit that overhangs the edge of the tank i have used two female threaded 90 degree hose barbs and joined them with a threaded male coupler. You can use regular 5/8 or 3/4 hose to go from the can to the tank.

If you want i have the surface skimmer attachment that they sell for the fluval cans and i can give you an over rim return nozzle i have sitting in my box o' random reef junk.

ok cool, let me get some pics and ill post them.
psykokid: does your 304 work? is it complete if so would you be interested in selling it?

it works, but needs a new impeller to be 100%. The impeller cover had a broken tab and shaft had broken and the center had worn out. I replaced the shaft and the impeller cover and then bushed the worn out spot in the center of the impeller with a piece of airline tubing. It works just fine, but you will need to replace the impeller sometime in the future. If you want it PM me an offer..
